Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to project a professional Image.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of functions of all hospital departments and specifically Rehabilitation Departmental performance improvement requirements as outlined by JCAHO, the Department of Health for the State of employment and Federal regulatory standards as outlined by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).
  • Knowledge and experience in the needs of patients ranging in age from 18 to geriatric.
  • Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills; excellent writing and speaking skills.
  • Working knowledge of personal computer and software applications used in job functions (Word processing, graphics, databases, spreadsheets, etc.)

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Graduate of an accredited university with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • A Master’s degree in a rehabilitation related field is highly desired. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years broad clinical experience is required.  

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Current license for PT, OT or SLP in state of employment.  Must maintain current Provider CPR certification throughout employment.

Responsibilities

The Rehabilitation Lead/Rehab Manager/Director (PT, OT or SLP) is responsible for overall administration of the Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech departments and patients ranging from 18 years of age to geriatric experiencing medically complex conditions, medical-surgical conditions requiring rehabilitation and/or wound care needs. 

The Rehabilitation Lead/Rehab Manager/Director (PT, OT or SLP) duties include:

  • Coordinate and direct the professional and non-professional staff of the department to include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy departments.
  • Responsible for participating in direct patient care per the needs of the facility. 
  • Responsible for the administration and operation of department direction, revenue control, cost containment and expense control, quality of services,
  • Maintains records management, supervision and direction of assigned personnel, department image and special demands and requirements.
  • Assesses patients upon admission according to specific program policies and procedures.

  •  Formulates and implements treatment programs according to individual patient needs as determined by evaluations and assessments. 

  • Develops treatment plans to include goals, objectives and methods to achieve the same within time frame designated and methods to achieve the same within time frame designated in the unit specific Policies and Procedures manual.

  • Administers quality treatment modalities for both individuals and groups.

  • Communicates verbally or in written form to treatment teams regarding patient’s assessment, progress, or evaluations.

  • Fosters an open climate so that effective communications between Therapeutic Recreation staff  and other departments can take place.
  • Attends and actively participates in departmental and unit staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Performs additional duties assigned.
