The Vice President (“VP”) of Operations manages a portfolio of assigned Long Term Acute Care (“LTAC”) hospital Rehabilitation departments, Rehabilitation hospitals or units. The VP will establish and maintain systems that ensures patient clinical and safety needs are met in an efficient manner by operating all programs in compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.   The VP is responsible for achieving financial and business goals in accordance with company budgets and strategic plans.  The VP is responsible for ensuring that assigned hospitals perform at or above expectations and ensures accountability through the Hospital CEOs and other key hospital leaders.

  • Maintains an operating culture which is disciplined, accountable and collaborative to achieve patient care, growth, and profitability goals by ensuring that teams “put the patient first”.

  • Provides leadership to assigned Rehabilitation departments, LTAC hospitals or Inpatient Rehabilitation hospital / units, monitor performance trends, and partner with leadership teams to ensure that financial / operational goals are achieved.

  • Utilizes Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to prioritize improvement efforts.

  • Establishes operating processes at each hospital that embrace team-based continuous improvement methodologies (“lean healthcare”) to achieve sustainable business results.

  • Coach leaders to demonstrate the behaviors required to implement sustainable best practice processes.

  • Actively participates in business reviews and partners with leadership to develop the systems and tools required to achieve operational excellence.

  • Prepares weekly and monthly operations reports for submission to the President.

  • Develops and executes strategic growth initiatives and plans within assigned facilities and associated markets in partnership with the leadership team.

  • Meets regularly with partner hospital CEOs or designee to provide performance updates and engage in improvement opportunities.

  • Engage in sales and marketing to promote the Rehabilitation product in the community to either drive new business or build business for LTACH partner hospitals or Rehab hospitals or rehabilitation units.

  • Develops strategic and operational plans with defined performance standards, metrics and action plans that can be tracked against timelines to evaluate organizational performance

  • Achieves the organizational alignment and demonstrated behaviors required to implement breakthrough (“leapfrog”) objectives.

  • Actively participates in the delivery and enhancement of superior patient care experiences.

  • Participates in risk management activities to promote the safety of patients, families, employees and others.

  • Participates in contract negotiations and on-going contract compliance activities.

  • Develops organizational capability to support growth through effective employee development, succession planning and the effective use of project management methodologies.

  • Consistently administers human resources policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications:

        Minimum Qualifications:

  • Actively licensed PT, OT or SLP

  • Master’s Degree preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of healthcare leadership with financial/budgetary responsibilities

  • Experience in Rehabilitation hospitals or LTACH required.

  • Demonstrated ability to motive others and achieve revenue, cost and profitability improvement goals.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with hospital leadership teams and deliver professional presentations to physicians, payors, executives and clinicians.

  • Prefer experience with hospital operational excellence and lean healthcare initiatives.

  • Prefer experience with start-up of new hospitals and turnaround of under-performing hospitals.

  • Prefer experience with post-acute services, including rehabilitation and skilled nursing.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of time on a weekly basis.

  • Multi-site experience preferred
